Questions about Baseline, answered
How Baseline works, what it costs, and what happens to your video.
Getting started
An AI tennis coach. You record yourself (or a player you coach) on your phone and upload the video. Baseline's AI watches every shot and sends back a coaching report: scores for technique, movement and consistency, specific notes tied to moments in the video, and drills to fix what's holding you back.
Put the phone on a fence, bag or tripod so it doesn't move, from behind the baseline or from the side. Get as much of your body in frame as you can, in good light. If other people are on court, tell us what you're wearing when you upload so the AI follows the right player.
MP4, MOV (what iPhones record) or AVI, up to 5 minutes and 500MB. A clip over 2 minutes 30 seconds uses two analyses, because it costs us about twice as much to analyze; the upload page tells you before you send it. Focused clips of 30 seconds to 2½ minutes usually get sharper feedback than a long recording anyway.
Usually a few minutes. You can leave the page and come back; the report appears on your dashboard when it's ready.
Yes. Create a profile for each player, each with their own history and progress. Starter includes 2 players, Club 5, and Coach and Academy are unlimited.
Yes. Press Cmd+K (Ctrl+K on Windows) to search pages, players and sessions, U to upload, G then D, P, F or S to jump to Dashboard, Progress, Friends or Settings, and ? to see them all.
Your report
It's good at visible, repeated patterns and less reliable on details that are hard to see on a phone video. Scores and observations are the AI's read, not a certified coach's. Two things are deliberately left to you: whether a shot was forehand or backhand, and its spin, because the AI can't measure those reliably from video. Treat the report as a starting point to bring to practice or a coach, and don't overhaul your technique on it alone.
Yes. Tap the pencil on any shot in the timeline. Your correction is saved, and future analyses of that player use your corrections as examples, so the same mistake is less likely to repeat.
Scores are on one global scale, not graded against your club. Around 50 to 68 is a solid club player, and above 80 is tournament level. An honest number you can improve is more useful than a flattering one.
UTR (Universal Tennis Rating) is a global rating from 1 to 16.5 based on real match results. Each report includes an estimated UTR range based on the technique in your video. It's a guide to your level of technique, not a match rating: only your real results can give you an actual UTR. You can also add your real UTR to a player profile.
A chat on every report where you can ask follow-up questions like "why am I late on my forehand?" It answers from that session's report, and any time it mentions is a real shot from your video. Starter includes 2 questions a month, Club 25, Coach 75 and Academy 250.
Your scores across sessions for each player: the overall trend, each area's change, your best sessions and how far you are from the next level. Starter shows your last 5 sessions; paid plans show your whole history.
Full reports are private to you unless you share them. You can create a share link for a single report, or a read-only progress link for a player (for a coach or parent). If you add friends, they see your name and profile photo, and their activity feed shows a summary of each of your sessions: the player's name, the video name, the score and the first couple of lines of the coach's summary. They can't open the full report without a share link. Your duels and matches with them appear there too. If you manage more than one player, you can hide any of them from friends in Settings. Share links never include your private session notes, ages or heights, and you can preview exactly what a link shows before you turn it on. You can also invite a coach to selected players and choose what they see (reports, training, private notes); you can end that at any time and it takes effect immediately.
Yes. Click the pencil next to the video name on the report.
Plans and billing
Starter is free with 1 analysis a month. Club is $15 a month, Coach $29 and Academy $99. Paying yearly works out to $13, $25 and $89 a month. The full comparison is on the Pricing page.
Starter is the free trial: 1 analysis every month, free forever, no card needed. The free analysis needs a confirmed email address; the upload page sends you a link if yours isn't confirmed yet. Upgrade whenever you want more analyses or the paid features, and cancel anytime.
You can buy an analysis pack (5 or 15 extra) without changing your plan. Pack analyses never expire and are used after your monthly allowance. Monthly allowances reset on the 1st.
Yes. Moving up takes effect straight away and you pay only the difference for the rest of the period. To move down or cancel, go to Settings, then Manage subscription. When you cancel, you keep access until the end of the period you've paid for.
Nothing, right away. You keep full access while your card is retried, and Stripe emails you a link to update it. Access only ends if the payment still can't be collected.
Payments are non-refundable except where the law requires. If you think you were charged by mistake, email legal@baselinecoach.app within 7 days and we'll look into it.
Every account has a referral code on its dashboard. When a friend enters it in their first 30 days, they get 10% off their first paid payment, and you get a credit of 10% of that payment on your bill once they subscribe. Promo codes, from partnerships or events, go in the same box and add bonus analyses. Each account can redeem one referral code.
Privacy and your account
It's sent to Google's Gemini AI for analysis and deleted from our servers and from Google's file storage as soon as the analysis finishes. We keep the report, not the footage. If you watch the video in the app, a copy can be saved in your own browser so the timeline still plays next time; that copy never leaves your device and is cleared when you sign out.
We don't sell your data or use your videos to train AI models. Shot corrections you make are used only to improve future analyses of that same player on your account.
Yes, at the bottom of Settings. It removes your account, players, analyses, reports, Ask Coach conversations, goals, friendships, duels, matches, comments, reactions and notifications from our live systems immediately. Backup copies are purged within 30 days.
